L’attesa per Dungeons & Dragons – L’onore dei ladri è alle stelle ed è ormai un’opinione comune che il film sia un adattamento umoristico del gioco dal tono simile a quello di Thor: Ragnarok. Sebbene ci fossero alcune preoccupazioni riguardo al modo in cui il film avrebbe adattato la tradizione di Dungeons & Dragons, Goldstein e Daley hanno ampiamente assicurato che rimarranno fedeli al materiale di partenza, apportando solo alcune modifiche e rispettando la regola del “cool” per offrire una storia il più divertente possibile.
Le reazioni a Dungeons & Dragons: Onore tra i ladri indicano che il film è stato ampiamente all’altezza delle promesse del duo di registi; anche i più critici hanno elogiato la sovrabbondanza di battute che funzionano. L’altro aspetto positivo che emerge dalle reazioni è che il film è accessibile sia ai fan di lunga data del gioco da tavolo, sia a coloro che non ci hanno mai giocato.
